Rule #1

I proposed the adaptation of the rule from Wikipedia that the articles should be containing neutral point of view. Even though our class is trying to make Buzzpedia different from Wikipedia, we still should write articles not containing only one point of view. Biased articles tend to lose the content of the information and ability to connect with audience (readers) in order to inform, which means the purpose of the article will not be understood. Therefore, most likely the articles will be deleted. Wikipedia states "Neutral point of view (NPOV) is a fundamental Wikimedia principle and a cornerstone of Wikipedia. All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view, representing fairly, proportionately, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. This is non-negotiable and expected of all articles and all editors." By adapting this rule, Buzzpedia will serve its purpose well which is to inform about Georgia Tech (tradition, athletics, and buildings). Ultimately, Buzzpedia articles give equal validity to minority view.

Rule #2

I propsed the adaptation of the rule from Strunk and White, which is to avoid foreign language. It is explained that writers writing foreign language are trying to show off their knowledge, but in Buzzpedia, it will be useless because the purpose of Buzzpedia is just to inform about Georgia Tech. There is no need in having foreign language in articles. If there is, then the articles lose audience from reading carefully. It is a common sense that since Buzzpedia is in English, editors better write in English. Putting different language in some phrases makes audience lose track of where he/she was reading because now he/she has to look for those words. Purpose of Buzzpedia is similar that of other online Encyclopedias, which is that writers design 'information center' for those who are in a hurry trying to find information. That is why there should be no foreign language. If there is a need to write in different language, then try to have definition right next to it with parenthesis so there is no difficulty.
